Interior Decorating?

Betsey Muehlbach: It will probably be tough to get clients without some kind of references or photos of jobs you've done. I would talk to friends and family and see if they can help you by doing decorating jobs for them, whether it be a simple "spruce up a room" job or a total overhall. Take pictures. Also, look at A LOT of photos of room settings so when you speak to a potential client you can readily interperet what the client is wanting and have good ideas at you disposal. Also, present yourself with confidence and professionalism. When meeting with a client, even if its you first job, carry yourself like you've been doing it for years. If a client doesn't like your first idea don't let it bother or discourage you. Recognize that a designer is designing a room for the clients style and not your own. Be prepared....Show more

Rona Espalin: Do you have references? How about college course for interior decorating? If your creditable then you can get business! . Make buisness cards, word of mouth, make a few tshirts and wear em around town. Become an affiiate with a furniture store, realtors, paint stores ect. I sell candles and this is what I do. You can benefit from home and buisness parties too.
