Is it bad to be addicted to horoscopes?

Blaine Connett: *cracks knuckles* Alright, let's do this... I used to be an addict, and while I can't speak for all, I can tell you that the common link from addict to addict is this: they are doing something that they know they shouldn't, and it's usually a control issue. They can CONTROL the substance and how much goes into their bodies, sure, until they become hooked and need more and more then the last dose or shot because it no longer has the same affects as it once did. They made their choice, and some can't get out of it, because they are so out of control with the abuse that it's taken over their lives, and these are the people that we should be trying to help out the most. I also believe that for every addict, they have their fair share of what's called enablers, and these are usually the people CLOSEST to them; mothers, fathers, children, and friends who either help out by giving the addict money or turning their backs on them or let them come back repeatedly af! ter believing claims that the addict will "get better" or "change." An addict cannot get clean or the help they need until the enablers realize the error of their own ways and change their behavior, too. I can't feel for them too badly, because I was one and I got help and saw the light. There's so much more to life then getting doped up every day. But some have a harder time climbing up from being at the bottom for so long. They lose themselves to drugs and more often then not, do not want to live a sober life because they have already lost so much. I'm glad I got out of it early enough to live a life and have one WORTH living. I started drugs because well, I wanted to. I'm not going to make up excuse after excuse here. It got worse after I was raped at 15, and more so after I miscarried (stop pitying me if you are. I'm serious. I lived through something horrible, but I'm NOT a victim, people, I'm a survivor). I felt like they were an answer to a lost question that I asked! myself several times; a something to fill a void I thought I ! had. I did speed, acid, E, and smoked a lot of pot. I did drugs all day every day for about 3 years, so as you can see, I was just about on the brink of no turning back. My friend saved my life. She came to me saying that if I was going to kill myself, then I was on my own. That stopped me dead in my tracks and that was all I needed. I didn't want to be alone any more or DIE, so I stopped cold turkey. I sought out support and will be sober 11 years this June. There are SEVERAL different reasons that people start, and several why they stop, and most start out of pure curiosity and the appeal of the taboo. Some start because they felt the pressure, or wanted to study longer (this is normally why you hear of little rich kids hooked on uppers and speed), or just had a sh*tty life style from day one. Whatever the reasons, these people have a weakness and need a crutch, and some turn to drugs. They lack will power because they are afraid of what is right. It takes a coward to sta! rt and nerves of steele to stop. They are people that have lost their way and need a push back to the road, even if they don't want it. BQ: Smokers? Not the same, but close enough. Most of the time, it's an image thing, another taboo to be dealt with, and something to pass the time. It can kill you, sure, but not nearly as fast as an overdose of heroine or speed. I smoke because I'm addicted, plain and simple. No excuses here, folks. When I want to quit, I will....Show more

Travis Colomb: It's not bad to read them, but don't expect them to predict your life or your day. They can't tell you what your day is going to be like. Read them for fun, but don't take them seriously. We all have high hopes and want certain things to happen really badly, but no horoscope can predict whether they will or not.

Wally Perrien: As long as you realize the horoscopes aren't real BECAUSE THEY AREN'T.You can look up your horoscope in MANY and they all say completely different things! because there isn't one singular horoscope for you that's being passed! around Sometimes if you look carefully they often contradict themselves. If you start thinking that whatever your horoscope says is inevitable and your "fate",then it's time to quit the fun little horoscope game because you're basically giving up on your life and letting a sentence or two take over the outcomes of your future. If your boyfriend dumps you it's not because a star is out of place it's because of something in your relationship. When people start to believe that their whole day or even life is planned out by a few sentences they get careless and forget that they really are in control.Plus, why be anxious about something that doesn't matter?I have an anxiety disorder and I know about the horrible habit of putting on worries that don't need worrying about. Why be upset for the day if your horoscope says that your day will be horrible? To tell you the truth, that's pretty pathetic. Here's something I remember KINDERGARTEN,only YOU control the outcome of your life. When yo! u read or horoscope you are being INFLUENCED by it and based upon what it says you act towards it subconsciously. That's why people think they work, because they are making them work.If you read you horoscope and it says you'll have a sad day in the back of your mind you're probably saying "Oh this day is going to be sad because my horoscope said so.." even if you don't think about it,you thinking sad thoughts makes your day worse. If you face the day with a bad attitude nothing good will happen.I can guarantee you that.So if you're looking at them for FUN,then you aren't "addicted" and you can keep on going. If you are BELIEVING THAT YOUR HOROSCOPES WILL COME TRUE NO MATTER WHAT you need to forget about horoscopes and let your days happen the way YOU want them to,not the way your "horoscope" wants them to....Show more
