Pattie Vold: There are certain things you need to know. After you were convivted, what sort of pentalty was imposed on you? Jail term for shoplifting unlikely. Did you pay fine, did community service or you got a conditional discharge. Conditional discharge means after you'd fullfil the imposed penalty, you were treated as if nothing had happened. The answer for conviction in this case would be NO. It really depends on the kind of job you're hired for and the nature of the business. But I find it rather weird that a person is asked to fill out an application after he/she is hired. The fine print simply says the company would consider how old were you, how long ago and the nature of your offence. In either case, your answer is better be YES.
