Are countries that have excellent public transportation to be envied?

Rivka Killmer: That's up to you if you want to move if you can afford it.Try getting along with other people no matter what it is, or just ignore them since they are not your life.

Babette Deloe: The exchange rate would be limited to what could fly in during a 24 hour period on April First, 2013.

Andrew Sinatra: Ours is almost nonexistent and I'd definitely use it. The USA should strive for mass transit.

Freeman Rutkin: I noticed them a few month ago. They are funny. I look at them now every time.

Frederick Mccoach: When you are answering a question, the ad tries to match the theme of the question. Like in the "Organized question" just posted, the sponsor was trying to sell vacuum cleaners! ha ha Try looking, sometimes it's pretty funny!

Idell Syed: How were the fall-outs handled? Is the person or the group aware of the hard feelings? Are you still on speaking terms or are you each trying to avoid another confrontation? If you don't f! eel comfortable then the best thing is to avoid the event which is not always possible. lf you have to go then avoid being near them or involved in a conversation. Time is precious so try to avoid a situation if possible.

Mitchel Demry: Little Nell, could be. What I'm referring to is right under the category list on the right side of all of the answers on a question page. Well, it's really not ALL that interesting but sometimes it's funny. Like what "Typical Not Me" said.

Romana Stiman: Yes, I understand how you feel. Both of my grandmother's worked without a car and used dependable public transportation. Since I do not drive, I often become frustrated with our Public Transportation System. I feel the car industry has deliberately tried to undermine the Public Transportation system. My aunt and Dad went to the university without a car and used Public transportation. When my son started the University, the first thing h said was I have to have a car! I just t! hink the car industry is taking over America! It is a mess! By! e!...Show more

Tomi Vauters: We have a fair a good transportation system in our area and many use it. I don't however because I can still drive a car and some of the places I need to go have the bus stops 4 country blocks away or not around at all.

Raelene Cunnick: Don't go to the events. If you are a young person I would relocate and enjoy meeting new people. If you are established in the community where you live that might not be a realistic option, in which case I would just hang out with the people that I like and who like me. Nobody gets along with everybody -- no reason to feel uncomfortable about it, just avoid them.

Dick Ovdenk: just a quick glance sometimes

Sena Highman: What makes me so mad is that in the 40's and 50's my mother in law never had a car she went to work and did her shopping in downtown L.A from Arcadia and did it all using the train service. It was fast and convenient. The auto industry worked to get rid of it and now look! at the freeways.

Bettye Arre: We live in a middle sized town in California. We have Amtrak about five miles from home. We have used that to travel between Washington State and California, and two of our grandchildren did the same at Easter. I think we helped the environment by doing so. And with the price of gas these days I KNOW it was cheaper than driving!I think we would use it more if we traveled much, but we don't .... I wish local public transportation was better and more accessible to seniors. In LARGE cities you see a lot of bike riders - might be something for we seniors to think about for local traveling to the grocery store for one or two items? Plus we could get excercise while doing it!?!Wow! I came up with an idea! Now I am pooped from typing about it! lol...Show more

Carolin Southers: no

Freeman Rutkin: Baby boomers (in spite of their brief hippie sojourn) and their parents made money and bought cars--one for the husband, one for th! e wife, maybe one for each kid as they turned 16. Driving mass transit! out of business in a lot of places. Those municipalities still running public transportation have had to raise fares so it's almost too expensive to use. It's a vicious circle. I think most seniors would love to have safe, on-time, reliable public transportation since it would allow us to come and go and get places without dealing with cars and the things having to do with cars (parking, gas, maintenance, etc.). My town has semi-good public transit but it isn't reliable (I have to allow 1.5 hours to commute one way to work every morning and I only live halfway across town from work (it can be driven in 20-30 mins with traffic). I can get downtown to shop, get to the movies, museums, other transport depots, the park, etc. via public transit though. There is also a slightly lower senior fare (and a monthly ticket can be bought for even more of a discount). So I'm all for public transit.I also would like a bigger form of public transit too. I used to be able to get u! p to the parents (60 miles away) on Greyhound but they stopped going to where my parents live--and it's a sizeable, well-known, popular place to visit. There are no trains or buses or anything else that goes up there so you have to drive there (and in summer when tourists invade, the roads get horrible). If you don't have a car, you can't get there. It's pathetic. It would not have hurt Greyhound to arrange for one stop in that town. Greyhound, Trailway, any of them....Show more

Armando Somes: I live in a small town in the USA that does not even have a cab service. It would be nice with gas prices so high if we did have public transportation.

Faviola Dewire: If these are fall-outs which cannot be resolved and you are young enough (and capable or moving in your career) then it might be best to start again somewhere else (but moving house is an expensive thing to do).If you are older I'd suggest that you just attend those things where you get on with most peo! ple. Nothing is compulsory. There is nothing worse than attending som! ething where you are not comfortable and do not feel welcome.

Gwenda Micheals: Our community is quite small, even though I live in a large city (approx. 500 000 people). I had a few fall-outs with people because they hurt me in some way or another. Now, when I go to different events, I avoid them and I feel uncomfortable. Some people are just stuck-up, which creates more discomfort. Should I move somewhere else? Will it be better if I start over or something?

Raymon Fiene: no, never have...my pc is too slow.

Rodrigo Pezley: No they are wasted on me. I have noticed them in the past though.Edit: I just went back and looked at the ones on the page where Suzie s made her last post. She mentioned something about a jello mold and the sponsors had advertisements about Mold Inspector Training and Allergy treatments. That is funny. I will probably start looking at them again.

Raul Tllo: I would think that a country with an excellent public transportati! on system should be envied. In the rural area that I live in, the only public transportation that we have consists of hitchhiking.

Corey Rohleder: we have public transit here....they might or might NOT come when you call.

Norma Marsalis: I live in a town of 1400 and can not see the same person or group ever if i choose so I would think it is all up to you as how to approach it.

Berry Gilmore: Lot's benefits for public transport, for me,it means we can go where we want and be able to have a couple of drinks with a meal. More importantly, for over 60's and disabled,it's free, meaning those who can no longer drive can still get out and about

David Boehler: thanks. I have never taken any notice of them. I will have a look now.

Asa Soho: Sorry - not sure what you are talking about. I do not get any sponsored message on the page I am using for answers. The only time I see such a thing is when I am on the Yahoo home page. Do we all get different ! things on here?

Mitchel Demry: Thee are many areas in the US wher! e we should have Bullet Trains!

Solomon Belback:

Tosha Tawney: Have you tried British public transport? Grossly overpriced train fares, unreliable bus services (where I live buses are generally 15-20 mins late) , Airports incapable of handling a snow shower. Companies like Arriva who have near monopolies in some places, abuse these and then incur the wrath of the unions which generally ends in a strike,

Kelly Bistodeau: Once in awhile I check them out, and sometimes it's pretty funny what they match up!

Monroe Rainey: , Yes ,There is counties with better public transportation.I lived in Holland, France, and England,I find it to be way better. I also lived in Laos-Angeless, and Houston,Of course I was driving, yet, I can see how slow they are compared to Europe, and how small they are as fare as how many " lines" they have I live In a Small town also here,we don't even have nice side walk ! People walk over there, what is good exercises, walk to the! bus stop, walk to the Subway, that is why they are not so big, nothing to do with a diet. Of course I must be partial , as I am from Paris?...Show more

Raleigh Lufkin: Well, right now, as I opened your question, they are STILL trying to sell vacuum cleaners, vacuum cleaner filters, and this is a hoot....a single seniors hookup site! Now you didn't mention a darn thing about looking for a "friend"!

Arleen Bussing: If you want to move, then do so. But, if you had a fallout here, what's to say you won't have others wherever you move? Everybody else isn't always the problem, sometimes we all have to look in the mirror.

Bryan Avinger: lona....I know what you mean. I would LOVE to get rid of my car and take public transportation and have it very convenient for everyone to use, but where I live it's not. You have to take at least 2, maybe 3 different buses just to go 10 miles to the next city. If gas keeps going up and up....something will have to be done abo! ut supplying handy transportation for everyone. New York always seems t! o have something right there to get around town (even walking part way). But the cost of living is too expensive....Show more

Vern Serratos: Yes, I would use public transportation if we had it in our small town. It would be a blessing now because of the expense of personal transportation.

Irving Jordahl: No never.

Troy Staton: Ha. Funny. April fools. Then we bomb the **** outta both of them. Jokes on them.
