if i have an integrated 3D card with 1GB vram of it's own then should i get dedicated 3D card for gaming?

Ronnie Barcus: Higher GPU RAM helps for higher resolutions, mine has 1GB, so I'd say that's a minimum these days. @Fox, my old laptop's ATI x1270 has 256MB max.

Rick Duchane: what games are you going to play? if its like battlefield 3 then yes, but you'll need more than 1GB of ram.

Moira Woodrow: As far as I know, there are no integrated graphics with 1GB dedicated memory, you'll only get 64MB to 128MB at the most.Have you forgotten your other post already?@Izy - Well that's dedicated graphics then if its ATI and they always add more memory which goes for nVIDIA as well, in fact the majority of the laptops out there weather its Intel, nVIDIA or ATI all still integrate the GPU's and VRAM into the motherboard. When people say or mean on-board graphics, that usually refers to Intel which are very basic compared to nVIDIA and ATI and I have never seen over 128MB of VRAM, nVIDIA and ATI are always known as dedicated graphics....Show more

Esteban Lyson: Yes, to! play anything harder than Minecraft or the Sims you will need a standalone card. For basic games like those, integrated video is enough. The amount of onboard memory does not reflect a graphics card's performance. The card model is what matters.
